Por su anatom\u00eda es una articulaci\u00f3n con dos cavidades sinoviales, <strong>articulaci\u00f3n compuesta<\/strong>. Por su funci\u00f3n, la articulaci\u00f3n t\u00e9mporo-mandibular se ve sometida a una movilidad y soporta fuerzas elevadas. La patolog\u00eda de la ATM m\u00e1s frecuente y que m\u00e1s preocupa es la que se traduce en sintomatolog\u00eda dolorosa.<\/p><p>Como cualquier otra estructura del cuerpo puede verse afectada por alteraciones inflamatorias, infecciones, tumorales, deformaciones y traumatismos. M\u00e1s frecuentes son los trastornos relacionados con su funci\u00f3n masticatoria y su biomec\u00e1nica. Consecuencia de ello, se generan alteraciones que tienen un cuadro sindr\u00f3mico, el <strong>sindrome de dolor-disfunci\u00f3n t\u00e9mporo-mandibular<\/strong>. Se habla de \u00abs\u00edndrome\u00bb cuando existe un rango de manifestaciones cl\u00ednicas no relacionado a una causa o enfermedad concreta. En este caso, el dolor es el que mayor incidencia y repercusi\u00f3n tienen. Adem\u00e1s, m\u00e1s que a una causa concreta que lo desencadene, se producen por la coincidencia o exposici\u00f3n a una o varias causas, conocidas como factores de riesgo.<\/p><p>El tratamiento depende del tipo de patolog\u00eda y de las causas que lo originan. Especialmente, cuando se trata de los trastornos por sobrecarga funcional, el tratamiento se apoya, en gran medida, en <strong>tratamiento m\u00e9dico conservador, fisioterapia, evitaci\u00f3n de factores de riesgo y medidas ortop\u00e9dicas<\/strong>. En algunos casos, especialmente graves o que no responden al tratamiento m\u00e9dico-ortop\u00e9dico, puede ser necesaria la cirug\u00eda \u00c9sta \u00faltima puede ser mediante cirug\u00eda abierta o mediante artroscopia.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section
