Las gl\u00e1ndulas salivales se encargan de la secreci\u00f3n de saliva para que la mucosa de <strong>la cavidad oral se mantenga h\u00fameda<\/strong>. Durante la ingesta de alimento y masticaci\u00f3n, la salivaci\u00f3n favorece que se <strong>humedezca el alimento<\/strong> y pueda triturarse y mezclarse adecuadamente. De la misma manera, permite la degluci\u00f3n posterior del bolo alimenticio formado. Adem\u00e1s, con la salivaci\u00f3n en la boca, <strong>comienza la digesti\u00f3n<\/strong> qu\u00edmica de los alimentos, debido a los fermentos y enzimas en la composici\u00f3n de la saliva.<\/p><p>Las gl\u00e1ndulas salivales m\u00e1s conocidas son las llamadas <strong>gl\u00e1ndulas salivales mayores<\/strong> (sublingual, submaxilar y par\u00f3tida). Pero esparcidas en toda la mucosa oral hay multitud de gl\u00e1ndulas salivales intramucosas. \u00c9stas son las <strong>gl\u00e1ndulas salivales menores<\/strong> que tambi\u00e9n pueden sufrir lesiones. Tambi\u00e9n pueden enfermar por infecciones, inflamaciones, quistes o tumores, \u00e9stos \u00faltimos m\u00e1s frecuentemente benignos, pero que si no se tratan pueden degenerar a m\u00e1s graves.<\/p><p>El <strong>tratamiento<\/strong> de los trastornos de las gl\u00e1ndulas salivales es variable seg\u00fan la causa de su origen. Pero habitualmente es quir\u00fargico para su extirpaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis de la gl\u00e1ndula resecada. Menci\u00f3n aparte supone la patolog\u00eda consecuencia de la p\u00e9rdida de la funci\u00f3n de las gl\u00e1ndulas salivales, secreci\u00f3n de saliva. \u00c9ste \u00faltimo desencadena s\u00edntomas muy molestos a causa de la disminuci\u00f3n o p\u00e9rdida del estado de humedad natural y protector de la mucosa oral. Su tratamiento es fundamentalmente con preparados de sustituci\u00f3n de la saliva y medidas humectantes.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section
